(57)【要約】 【課題】 ライトバルブ素子の温度上昇を防止し、か つ、冷媒の取り扱いの簡便で、さらに、塵埃を防止でき る投写型映像表示装置を提供すること。また、装置全体 の冷却効率に優れた投写型映像表示装置を提供するこ と。 【解決手段】 ライトバルブ素子の周辺を密閉空間で囲 み、密閉空間内に空気を強制循環させて、発熱部材であ るライトバルブ素子を冷却するとともに、密閉空間内の 暖められた空気を冷却するために、装置本体外から取り 入れた空気を密閉空間の筐体の外表面に沿って流した 後、装置本体外へ排出する熱交換手段を設ける。
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the cooling effect of a whole device by surrounding the periphery of a light valve element by a hermetically sealed space and arranging a heat exchanger executing the heat-radiation and the cooling of the light valve element by making air forcibly circulate in the hermetically sealed space and discharging the air taken in from the outside of a device main body after it is made to flow along the outside surface of the housing of the hermetically sealed space. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel 3 is positioned inside the hermetically sealed space 5. The space 5 is constituted of the housing 15 formed of a case 52, a cover glass 33, a heat radiation plate 55 and a projection lens 4 and hermetically sealed. Besides, a circulation fan 51 is arranged in the space 5. When the fan 51 is rotated, wind is sent and returned to the fan 51 again through the upper part of the plate 55 being the bottom plate of the housing 15 after it is passed through one of the incident-side duct 54 or the emitting-side duct 53 of the panel 3. Thus, the heat generated at the panel 3 is cooled by forcible convection and radiated outside the space 5 from a heat exchange surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
